A Note From the Directors
We would like to welcome everyone back from your Christmas Break and wish you all a happy and very prosperous 2016.
This year looks to be as busy as the last and we are looking forward to seeing what the new year brings.
Jobs Won in December 2015
The estimating department have managed to secure the following significant contracts in December 2015.
Hollybrook Residential – Kenway, Southend on Sea, Essex
Crest Nicholson – Sydenham Hill
Redrow Homes – Head Office Extension
Chase New Homes – Xerox Building, Welwyn Garden City
The start of 2016 has seen a number of our apprentices returning to college for continuation of their development. Taylor Redpath, Mike Barber, Louis Jarvis, Oliver Sargent Paul Jones and Jordan Kennedy have all completed the next stage of their course.
Coming up we see Nathan Hallam going back to complete his Final Assessment and finally becoming a fully trained Scaffolder.
6No operatives came in to the office on the 9th January to complete their assessment for the Slinger Signaller qualification.
A one day Emergency First Aid course has been pencilled in for February 2016, if you are interested in attending please contact Jason as soon as possible to get your name put down.
Advanced Training – Update
Due to a high demand in the requirement for Advanced Scaffolders, the CITB are struggling to provide spaces for Advanced learners on 2016.
We have spaces secured for later in the year, but also have the opportunity to send delegates to a new training centre in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire as early as February.
If your name was on the Advanced Training list and you would be willing to travel to Huntingdon to complete your training opposed to Erith you may be considered for an earlier slot.
Contact Jason if you are interested, the training centre is approx. 40 miles north of the Stansted Airport turn off of the M11 motorway.
Project Spotlight – Melior Street, London
Client – Crest Nicholson
Location – Melior Street, Southwark, SE1
Foreman Scaffolder – Richard Davis.
Melior Street is a residential development in South East London, consisting of an 8 storey RC frame structure, erected on the boundary of an extremely tight site, adjacent to the pavements used by thousands of commuters daily on route to London Bridge Station. Works on site are fully enclosed by an impressive fully sheeted scaffold structure erected from a Monarflex frame to keep the outside looking neat and tidy.
Use of Power Drills on Scaffold Fittings
As previously discussed the use of drills for the erection and dismantle of scaffolding is becoming more and more common, and although these tools are permitted for use on a majority of sites there has been reports of fittings being returned to the yard following a strike with missing nuts and washers.
Please be careful when using the tool for a scaffold dismantle as the repair and service of fittings is a costly process. If fittings continue to be returned to the yard in this state , we will have no option but to place a blanket ban on using them.
SeaBro House – Extension Works
During the past few months we have been undergoing changes at SeaBro House and can now show an impressive 2 storey extension which has been added to our Head Office complex. The expansion allows twice the space previously available and ensures that we can operate well in to the future coping with increases in staffing levels and the opportunity to carry out training and development in-house in spacious and comfortable surroundings.
Employee of the Month
Due to December being only a two week month with a lot of staff being away from work using up remaining holiday, it was deemed unfair for an Employee of the Month award to be issued this month.
We will be restarting the award for works carried out in January 2016, with the prize reverting back to a £100.00 monetary reward following feedback from the recent round of appraisals.
We would like to offer our congratulations to both Damian Chiles and Niall Hart who’s partners both gave birth to baby Rowan and Elsie respectively during the past month.
SeaBro Ltd have a good vast mixture of employees currently playing in various team sports around the local area.
We would like to invite offers from clients wishing to challenge SeaBro to a match in your chosen sport (we are open to attempt any event within reason).
SeaBro FC have a good history in match play and since inauguration are yet to lose a match, we also have a good array of rugby players available at our disposal.
Anyone wishing to challenge SeaBro to a game should contact Nick Brown on 07787 527321 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We would like to congratulate Alex Middlecott on his achievement of getting through the first heat of Ninja War-rior UK on ITV.
We wish you the best of luck in the remaining rounds.
Semi Finals & Final are shown on ITV on Saturday evenings starting on 30th January 2016.
